Skyscraper

Been wanting to watch this movie as soon as it was released. But my husband didn’t really want to watch it. And after I tolerated his choice of Hotel Transvylnia (macam salah je eja ni), he finally agreed to watch Skyscraper.

Baru sedar yang aku minat The Rock rupanya hahaha. Sebab setakat ni, semua movie dia yang aku tengok, watak dia mesti kelakar, no matter how intense the storyline is.

Walaupun husband aku tidur masa tengok movie ni, aku tetap nak bagi 4 bintang. Sebab aku suka elemen kekeluargaan tu dan the futuristic design of the tower.

How I Met Your Mother

Netflix dah ada HIMYM. So boleh marathon untuk kali kedua (kononnya). Tapi rupanya tak kuasa dah nak re-watch. I ended up watching the very first episode and the last 4 episodes of season 9 je.

“You will be shocked kids, when you discover how easy it is in life to part ways with people forever. That's why, when you find someone you want to keep around, you do something about it.” -Ted-

But sometimes, there are not really much to be done, I guess. When it’s time to part ways, all we can do is reminiscing the good old times (as long as it’s not faded away, that is). The past is past, no matter how much we want to re-live it.

The truth is, I miss a lot of people.

Typical Streotype

I guess we all know how typical and streotype drama Melayu, especially drama bersiri can be. If you have to watch, all you need to watch is the first, maybe one episode in the middle and the final episode, you will have the idea of what the whole 30 episodes are really about. You won’t feel like you’re missing anything.

But, to be fair, it is actually the same thing with Hollywood movies, especially the rom-com movies. It is somehow predictable, too. Well, most of it.

Boy meets girl, fall in love, always for the similar reasons as below

  • If they finish each other’s sentence
  • If they share common taste in music or movies or food, etc etc
  • If they have the exact same idea of something
But that 3 streotypes are strictly about romantic comedy movies only. As for TV series, they are not so predictable. Although sometimes for action and thriller movies, they are pretty predictable, too.

On a quite different note, I’m currently watching Santa Clarita Diet. Adoii, as much as it’s disturbing, I can’t wait to find out what’ll happen next. Yes, it’s too bloody (literally), so I’ll avoid eating while watching. Hopefully there’ll be Season 3.

Of Grey's Anatomy

Sekarang dah Season 14 and still going on for a few more seasons, I guess. But as for me, rasanya cukuplah setakat ini.

Aku rasa storyline dah mengarut dengan banyak sangat muka baru. And they keep on dying and leaving every time.

Aku punya turning point is actually when they paired up Maggie and Jackson. Argghhh, I can't watch anymore. Technically, they are siblings kot. Dan bila dapat tahu April and Arizona will no longer be on the next seasons, yup, enough is enough.

I should have stopped watching when Christina left. Or when Derek died. Or when Callie left. Or when Riggs left. Yeah, I should have stopped a long time ago. Sigh.

I googled the cast for Season 1, 5 and 10 below:

The only constant faces from Season 1 until now are Meredith, Bailey, Alex and Webber.

So that's it. I can't stand the storyline and the inconsistency of the cast. It's so disappointing to me, haha.

Goodbye, Grey's Anatomy.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Haha, I know, it's been decades, but I just had the chance to watch the whole episodes (well, still working on that, I'm currently on Season 3).

I remember my seniors and friends excitement about this show back then in high school. They conquered the recreation room every time it was aired on TV. Me, I think I could not afford to keep up. But I know Joey was super-cute back then!

So, was it really Phoebe who came out with the term BFF in the first place? It must have been in 1997.

And it's good to get to take a look at the old technology from the 90's, like the pager, home telephone, the computers (the bulky monitors and all). Those were the days.

So I wonder what it's like to be watching today's TV show in 20 years time.

Wonder

A novel adaptation movie, with family-drama genre. Sinopsis boleh baca kat Wikipedia.

Setiap watak dalam cerita ni sangat menyentuh perasaan, even for the dog. Pelakon tak payah cakaplah when it's Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson. Part kelakar memang kelakar dan part sedih memang sedih.

Selain emosi yang bermacam-macam, jalan cerita pun banyak aspek yang disentuh selain kekeluargaan, it' also about humanity and friendships. Adalah sikit pasal young love but I won't count that eheh.

It actually reminds me of the book I'm currently reading where it suggests on looking for goodness in people. "There are bad people out there and selfish people and nasty people. But mostly, there are good, kind, decent caring people who want to help. Go looking for them and you will find them"

All in all, this is a beautiful story. It takes a good person to look beyond appearance. Appearance, after all, is just a skin deep.

Some Food for The Soul

Favourite quotes from the film “Wonder”:

  1. When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.
  2. When someone acts small, you just have to be the bigger person.
  3. You can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

Will definitely write about the movie soon!

Fangirling

Watched Ellen show yesterday. And the guest was - OPRAH!

Too much inspiration in one screen.

.
.

And guess what??

They invited Reese Witherspoon, too.

Okay, enough of fangirling already!

And owh, as Ellen always ends her show - "Be kind to one another".

Dim Sum in Cinema

So now they have dim sum in TGV. Suka sangat! Dapat makan dim sum panas-panas sambil tengok movie. I love it so much hehe. Dim sum pulak susah sikit nak cari, jadi bila dah ada dalam ni rasa sangat menjimatkan masa dapat 2 things that I love in one place. Gitu.

Owh, pau pun ada.

Harapnya menu ni dapatlah bertahan lama kat situ.

The Maze Runner: The Death Cure

Intro movie ni memang best.

But afterwards, it was all so predictable. Dah boleh agak apa yang akan jadi, siapa yang akan mati, siapa yang survive. Kurang dah element saspen tu bagi aku. Mungkin sebab dah banyak sangat movie yang genre macam ni.

Tapi sebab dah terjebak dari first sequel, nak kena tengok jugaklah sampai final sequel. Dan lagi, gap of the previous sequel’s release dengan this one macam jauh sangat, aku kurang ingat sangat dah cerita yang sebelum ni. Jadi bila ada character yang patutnya dah mati tapi ‘hidup’ balik, penat nak kerah otak nak ingat balik dia ni siapa, bila dia ni mati, kenapa dia ‘mati’. Kabur-kabur dah ingatan tu. Haish, makcik is getting really old 😰

So now, let’s wait for the Divergent pulak. Lepas tu tak mau dah tengok movie yang saga-saga ni sangat dah.

The Commuter

4 starts for this movie for me eheh.

First of all, sebab Liam Neeson lah kan. Secondly, the storyline memang best. Banyak benda yang kita nak saspenkan. Siapa sebenarnya orang yang nak dicari, siapa yang jahat, siapa yang baik. Cerita dia tak straigtforward sangat so kena berfikir jugaklah. Dan ending dia memang tak disangka-sangka.

Aku duk terfikir sepanjang tengok tu, kalaulah aku yang berada dalam situasi dia tu, aku memang tak tahu apa nak buat. Buntu sangat rasa, ehehe, over sangat penghayatan 🙄. Dan sebab tu tak rasa boring tengok movie ni sebab nak tahu what’s his next move.

Owh, yes, jalan cerita lebih kurang his previous movie, Non-Stop.

Cerita lehih-lebih kang spoiler pulak, please go and watch pakcik tua yang gagah perkasa ni 😝😝

Only The Brave

Pic: Google

Banyak dugaan nak tengok cerita ni. Showing time tak sesuailah, tak release dekat cinema terdekatlah, blabla..

But it's based on a true event, jadi, cabaran dugaan kami tempuhi jugak. So kami pergi tengok di cinema yang jarang pergi dan tak aware pasal parking location, ended up kami terpaksa tawaf the whole Aeon to get to our car after the movie sebab semua (closer) pintu kat shopping complex tu dah berkunci.

Dapatlah bersenam free pukul 12 malam adoii.

It's a sad movie, well, how could it not, since it was based on a very sad tragedy. Sedih, sampai termimpi-mimpi lepas tengok tu. Tak boleh bayang perasaan the 19 firefighters during their last moments tu.

Can you imagine taking shelter inside of this while the super-massive fire was blown over you? Well, I can’t 😔

Dan lagi, the movie title planted in my mind as "The Last Brave", tak tahu mana datang phrase tu. Bila cakap pasal movie ni I kept on saying The Last Brave, instead of the correct one.

Antara quote yang aku ingat:

"We don't see things as they are because we always see things as we are"

Thor Ragnarok

No spoiler, no worries 😉

Makcik bagi 5 bintang sebab kelakar, rasa macam tengok Guardians of The Galaxy pulak. Tapi Natalie Portman tak ada, mungkin sebab tak ada scene dekat Bumi sangat kot.

Nak listkan apa yang best:

1. Ada Mark Ruffalo
2. Karakter Loki yang tak konsisten tu - kejap baik, kejap jahat.
3. Thor dah potong rambut haha
4. The film score & soundtrack
5. Kelakar! (walaupun dah mention kat atas)

The Emoji Movie

Movie ni memang comel, walaupun orang seat depan siap berdengkur padahal movie baru main seetengah jam. Mostly pasal perjalanan emoji yang malfunction nak keluar dari app dia (something like Whatsapp) untuk pergi ke Cloud supaya dapat re-program diri dia jadi normal.

Okaylah, my verdict: amusing. Some parts are too cute to handle. And cerita pasal benda yang berlaku dalam smartphone, so memang terasa dekat di hati *eh, ke dekat di tangan?

Quote of the movie:
"What's the point of being number 1 if there are no any other number?"

The Dark Tower

Since movie ni baru lagi tayang, maka aku tulih sikit-sikit jelah kang spoiler pulak ehehe.

Kalau ikutkan genre fantasy macam ni memang not my cup of tea, but because of these two reasons, pergilah jugak tonton.

1. Matthew McConaughey
2. Dapat redeem tiket free

Based on Stephen King's novel - The Gunslinger.

Walaupun Matthew McConaughey jadi orang jahat, tapi okaylah. Story line macam slow sikit tapi makin lama makin geram dengan Matthew tu.. Jahat bebenor dia tu (tak ingat pulak nama watak dia dalam tu), so jadi tak sabar nak tunggu scene dia kalah sebab macam impossible je nak kalahkan dia.

Tapi part The Gunslinger (yang datang dari dunia lain) masuk ke dunia Bumi ni, rasa macam banyak je dah tengok scenes macam tu kat movie lain.

Kalau ada sequel ni rasanya tak pi tengok dah kot. Eh, ye ke?

Dunkirk

*spoiler alert*

I'd give 10 stars for this movie. For this kind of genre, I don't need to know or like any of the actors, I'd still definitely watch it. Owh, ada sorang budak One Direction in it but I don't remember his name.

It's based on a true event in World War II which was called "Dunkirk Evacuation" (I googled this in the cinema when the screen suddenly went white for almost half an hour. Not sure what was the technical issue, but we waited anyhow. Sabar tak sabarlah, haha)

Basically, the story line was divided into three parts - the jetty, the air and the sea which towards the end of the movie, they intersected each other. Brilliant story line, I must say. Although for one of the part, it ended sadly...why???

The climax part was when all the little ships reached the beach to save the armies. The kind of scenes that send shivers to your spine. And knowing that it really did happen in the past, I was totally in awe. Big salute to the British who mostly came all the way, unequipped with any  military weapon,  full aware that they were risking their life and yet still answer the call to help those trapped armies. Most of them came and helped bringing the soldiers back home with just regular fishing and merchant boats and pleasure yachts, etc etc. Respect betul.

I love the brief conversation of an old volunteer who's handing out blankets to the armies:

Volunteer: Good job, son.
Soldier: All we did was survive.
Volunteer: That's enough.

Deep!

And that's one thing about war movie - they never fail to convey the message of humanity so beautifully in it. Although in reality, if there is enough humanity in all of us, I bet there wouldn't be any war around us anymore. Because there's nothing human about war in the first place.

Just saying.

Transformers: The Last Knight

Finally, got to watch it last weekend.

Well, I loved it ehehe. Despite the long duration, I stayed awake the whole time. Err, maybe because it's Mark Wahlberg la kot. And tertunggu-tunggu Optimus Prime yang lambat sangat nak muncul. But, the fighting scenes memang tak boleh blahhh.

Heroin tu aku tak kenal but she looks like Angelina Jolie, though. Dan ada Anthony Hopkins, I like jugak ehehe.

Yang pasti, there will be another sequel since Quintessa is not yet dead. Eh, spoiler ke? Opss.

I asked my husband, "If Transformer keeps making its sequel until we're 50,  would we still go and watch it?" Haha.

Well, probably yes.

LALA LAND

Dah a few weeks jugak tengok, baru ada mood nak tulis pasal movie ni.

I watched it because Emma Stone was in it. And because it's nominated for Oscar's Best Picture. I am so not into musical movies which is why I didn't watch it in cinema. Tengok CD boleh skip the singing parts ehehe.

I like the ending. It's nothing cliche like most of the movies. Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) and Mia (Emma Stone) met again, briefly, after being separated for years, but somehow they just moved on.

I think that's what the phrase of "We don't meet people by accidents. They crossed our path for a reason" is all about.

Their relationship didn't work out but they met each other to inspire each other to become what they want to become. Which they both did in the end.

So, I think that pretty much sums up the movie haha.

City of stars
Are you shining juts for me
City of stars
There's so much that I can't see
Who knows
I felt it from the first embrace I shared with you

..I Love You Once, I Love You Twice..

Nasib baik dah season last.  Kalau tak, dah tak nak tengok dah *ye ke??
Owh, btw, I'm talking about Desperate Housewives.  Sedih sangatlah episod Mike's funeral tu.  Huhuhu.
And poem is cute:
''I love you once, I love you twice.  I love you more that beans and rice''
